# Bitcoin Ansible Roles

## Dependency Version Checks
Roles that pin an upstream dependency's version carry a comment directly above the `_version`
variable in `defaults/main.yaml`, pointing at the page where the current upstream version can be
confirmed:
```yaml
# version-check: https://github.com/lightningnetwork/lnd/releases
lnd_version: "0.21.4-beta"
```
lnurld is split into a `build` role (checks out/builds the pinned commit) and a `server` role that
runs the resulting binary at the same version. The `server` copy isn't an independent upstream pin,
so its marker points at the build role's file instead of a URL:
```yaml
# version-check: must match lnurld_version in lnurld/build/defaults/main.yaml
lnurld_version: "b62791f"
```
